The Maryland Department of Emergency Management (MDEM) Internship/Fellowship Experience offers students the opportunity to gain experience in the areas of disaster mitigation, preparedness, prevention, protection, response, resilience, administration, and recovery. This program is designed to be flexible to the students’ interests, academic requirements, and the needs of MDEM.

MDEM internship opportunities are for students enrolled in an accredited college seeking to complete required hours for a course, capstone, or other related requirement to graduate. MDEM also partners with external organizations (e.g., UB NextGen Program, Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation Year of Service Program, etc.). Students and organizations interested in participating in the program should use the button below to apply.

Applications are open and will be considered year-round. However, applicants should be aware that opportunities or positions may be limited depending on the time of year, so applying early is both possible and encouraged.
